Dak­shi­na­chi­tra is a cen­tre for the liv­ing tra­di­tions of art, folk per­form­ing arts, craft and ar­chi­tec­ture of In­dia with an em­pha­sis on the tra­di­tions of South In­dia. A project of the Madras Craft Foun­da­tion ( MCF), the cen­tre was opened to the public in De­cem­ber 1996. A vil­lage in it­self, Dak­shi­na­chi­tra is a mu­seum of model houses from dif­fer­ent parts of South In­dia and a visit here is bound to be a great learn­ing ex­pe­ri­ence for your child. They of­fer some in­ter­est­ing classes to keep your lit­tle ones oc­cu­pied this sum­mer. They have one day camps, tra­di­tional games, pot­tery, clay mod­el­ling and junk art classes. Their charges are nom­i­nal, and they also pro­vide trans­porta­tion from your home to Dak­shi­na­chi­tra.
