The best way to keep your techsavvy kids away from gadgets, iphones and laptops during the vacations is to gently nudge them away from the couch and enroll them for one of these green camps held in the lap of nature. Let them explore the outdoors so that they come back more in touch with their environmental side. Nature Club’s idea of a perfect summer art workshop includes taking children to Saputara ( Gujarat’s only hill sta-

tion) for five days and introducing them to some interesting crafts of the region that include bamboo craft, paper collage, clay modelling and some more adventurous activities like rappelling, river crossing and bouldering ( a style of rock climbing undertaken without a rope).

Another Vadodara based organisation, Green Outdoors has designed a camp for kids called Saahas. This unique four hour adventure summer camp is conducted either in a school or a region away from the city. Designed by Rakesh Singh Rawat, it spans for a week and is aimed at building the child’s selfconfidence. HIGHLIGHTS The camps help develop your child’s confidence and inculcate team building skills. They also make children aware of nature and wildlife which they can observe at close quarters COST Saputara camp: Rs 2,200; Himalayan Camp: Rs 9,000; Saahas camp: Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000 WHERE Nature Club: 81, Sarjan Society, Surat; Green Outdoors: Rajdeep Complex, Sussen Tarsali Road, Vadodara TEL Nature Club: 09825057678; Green Outdoors: 09099910807
