On­go­ing till Au­gust 12 Com­mem­o­rat­ing the centenary year of the famed Ben­gali sculp­tor Pro­dosh Das Gupta, iconic works by the artist will be on show at the Vic­to­ria memo­rial hall. Rep­re­sent­ing hu­mane val­ues and love through the hu­man body form, Das Gupta utilised the sculp­tural id­iom born out of both western and In­dian norms to cre­ate as­tound­ing works. Hailed as the last of the clas­si­cal and first of the mod­ern sculp­tors of In­dia, Das Gupta be­lieved in the de­vel­op­ment of in­di­vid­ual cre­ative pro­cesses and was vo­cal about re­forms within the In­dian art ed­u­ca­tion sys­tem.
