India Today - - SIMPLY KOLKATA -

A riot of colours greets you as soon as you enter the Byloom store. Housed in an old renovated mansion in a leafy south Kolkata lane, Byloom is a favourite haunt among the city’s women who are looking to flaunt exclusive style statements. Rich hand- woven textiles, vibrant colours and striking patterns mark Byloom’s saris, designed by Bappaditya and Rumi Biswas. Spread across two floors, Byloom’s range of offerings is as exhaustive as it is unique. Stoles and scarves, handbags and batuas, purses and mobile pouches, jewellery, footwear and home furnishings jostle for space in the store. Saris undoubtedly are the highlight here and you can find plain cotton weaves as well as stylish ethnic silks in brilliant colour combinations. Men can also find some fine silk and cotton shirts and kurtas here, though the collection is rather limited. There’s also a small collection of colourful earthenware that you can pick up for your kitchen. The kantha stitches are revived in their modern avatars on the home furnishing pieces— be it cushions or quilts. Byloom also has a line of organic soaps and scrubs with wonderful aromatic blends. 58B Hindusthan Park 750 to Rs 15,000 for saris 24198727; byloom. in
