India Today - - SIMPLY PUNE -

The long- standing border dispute between Maharashtra and Karnataka has inspired violent protests, political agitations and reams of literature. Now, the fight between the states over areas such as Belgaum and Nipani has arrived on the Marathi stage with a play called Zalaach Pahije. Produced by Maharashtra Kalanidhi, a body formed to promote Marathi theatre, the play delves into the problems faced by the residents of these disputed areas. The two- act play is set in the court of an erstwhile ruler- politician and the dispute is brought to the fore by his daughter’s fiancé, forcing the king’s young daughter to join the agitation. The script is peppered with references to modern day political events and anecdotes. The date and venue of the play are yet to be decided. Log on to maharashtrakalanidhi. com
