Cricket in Tur­moil

The Board of Con­trol for Cricket in In­dia ( BCCI) has al­ways been a web of in­trigue and de­ceit (“Boss in a Fix”, June 3). Ob­scene amount of money un­der its con­trol has warped the board’s think­ing and the good of In­dian cricket is never on the agenda of this su­per reg­u­la­tor. The rules are so con­vo­luted that once some­one be­comes the BCCI pres­i­dent, it is al­most im­pos­si­ble to dis­lodge him. It is in­deed a shame that national lead­ers like Naren­dra Modi, C. P. Joshi, Ra­jeev Shukla, Fa­rooq Ab­dul­lah— all es­teemed mem­bers of this au­gust body— are to­tally silent. KRISHAN KALRA, via email N.
