Lust for Life

ASTILL FROM The filmmaker on the support systems that make him tick

On Ranbir There’s a love for film and a bit for food. There’s something similar about our temperament and value system.

On friendship

It is as significant as family and love. Friends sometimes give us what even lovers can’t, which is a degree of love and understanding without the baggage of too much expectation.

On Karan Johar

He is allowing me to fly as much as I want and is available every time I need creative advice. He is unimposing and deeply encouraging. At Dharma Productions, I feel I will be allowed to make the films that I want to.

On family I feel I am going back to my family. I am realising how constant and wonderful their support has been. It allowed me to do whatever I wanted as I could always fall back on them. I don’t think I value them enough or have given back enough. Now that process is about to start.
