The Ce­ramic Cen­tre at Ananda­gram is a calm oasis of­fer­ing refuge from the scorch­ing sun. Fledg­ling pot­ters coax shapes out of moist clay on the wheel, while hun­dreds of such cre­ations jos­tle for space on the shelves. Some have just been fired, and oth­ers are fin­ished art­works. At the Ce­ramic Cen­tre, muddy hands soothe the soul.

SPIN CLASS The work­shop is or­gan­ised by Sanskriti Ken­dra and Delhi Blue Pot­tery Trust and is open to any- one above 17 years of age. You also have the flex­i­bil­ity of choos­ing two days a week for three- hours each, the work­shop con­tin­ues for three months. You be­gin with the basics and learn how to cen­tre, lift and shape clay. Then go on to learn ad­vanced tech­niques. The best part is you can take your cre­ations back home.

THERE IS MORE Apart from pot­tery, Ananda­gram also has meenakari work­shops, where stu­dents learn the in­tri­ca­cies of meenakari paint­ing and or­na­ment mak­ing. COST Rs 6,000 for pot­tery, twice a week; Rs 2,500 for meenakari
