Gehlot’s Waiver

India Today - - GLASS HOUSE -

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who has been pleading with the public to vote for him in lieu of his freebies, has made an exception for his pet project Jaipur Metro. When he launched the project in 2010, he hoped it would be a vote- catcher if he could start it well before Assembly elections in December 2013. But on August 25, when Gehlot visited the Metro sites, he saw the graffiti on the wall. With the project much behind schedule, he now says: “Not every work should be linked to elections.”
