Pune developers are wooing customers by roping in star wives and famous designers
In July, Donald Trump’s company announced the launch of Trump Towers Pune, “a pair of sleek ultramodern towers that redefine the Pune skyline”. These twin buildings will house 44 luxurious single- floor condominiums and are being developed by the American realestate tycoon in collaboration with city developer Panchshil Realty. It adds yet another haute project to the already growing luxury living market in Pune. From collaborating with designer Philippe Starck for uber luxury homes in YooPune, to roping in Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri to give the in- teriors of a penthouse a celeb touch, developers are wooing cash- rich customers with unique offerings.
At Pimple Nilakh, close to Hinjewadi’s IT Park and near the MumbaiPune Expressway, the upcoming 24 Glitterati by Kolte- Patil Developers offers nine penthouses, at around Rs 5.5 crore each, to be done up by Gauri Khan. “The influx of expatriates, working professionals and GenNext of business families is creating a demand for luxury homes,” says Sujay Kalele, group CEO of Kolte- Patil.
Pune, which was once seen as a pensioner’s paradise, is now a hot- house of high- end, super luxurious homes with price tags of upwards of Rs 4.5 crore. Clearly, luxury living spaces are moving beyond traditionally affluent localities.
“Real- estate rates in suburban areas such as Pimple Nilakh, Baner and Hinjewadi,” says Rohit Gera of Gera Developments that is developing a villa project, “are Rs 6,900 onwards per sq ft and can go up to Rs 20,000 per sq ft, depending on amenities offered. A celeb touch or special offerings such as private pool and garden often fetches a 15 to 50 per cent premium.” No one minds paying.
