FOCUS ON CONTENT

It is primary. The next two films, which we will start shooting, have been in development for two years. Rome wasn’t built in a day and so is the case with the scripts of JA Entertainment. I want to attempt subjects that are sensitive and different.

DON’T BE DRIVEN BY THE BOX OFFICE

As a producer, I make films, not proposals. Most important is to make a good film. With Madras Café, we’ve proved everyone wrong. The film was made on a budget of Rs 30 crore. The film has no skin show, no songs, or item numbers. We start conceptualising a film not with an actor or songs but with the script.

RESPECT THE AUDIENCE

Madras Café is proof that audiences are intelligent. They are hungry to see something different.

BE SMART WITH BUDGET

You should be able make a film on a small budget and in a way that it looks like a Rs 50- crore film. That’s the strength of a producer who wants to make a quality film.

DON’T GO OVERBOARD WITH PUBLICITY

Our promotion and advertising budget is minimal and as effective as possible. We rely on our content.
