India Today - - BEST OF INDIA - By Jwala Gutta, badminton player

Hyderabad is where haleem is believed to have originated from. While I prefer home- cooked haleem, Sarvi in Banjara Hills serves very good fare too. In the Old City, the three- decade- old Pista House on Shah Ali Banda Road is pretty popular. Its mutton haleem is among the best in the city. Another place not too far from Pista House is Shadaab. But I prefer Adaab, a Hyderabadi restaurant in Nampally. Closer to my home in Banjara Hills is Kholani’s, owned by a Muslim family. I can easily polish off two helpings of their haleem at one go. I’d rather work out more than give up on haleem. People usually struggle to finish one helping, but not with my family and friends, who are all foodies.
