BE A CONFIDANTE, NOT A FRIEND Don’t try to be your child’s friend but try and be their confidante instead. That way you’ll be the first person they’ll come to when they are in any kind of trouble. TOUCH BASE Keep all channels of communication open between you and your child. ALWAYS AT HAND Make sure you let your child know that you’re accessible for all their needs however minor or major. HAVE FUN TOGETHER Spend quality time with your children. Do fun stuff that you enjoy, whether its watching a favourite sitcom or visiting a park. ENCOURAGE INDIVIDUALITY Treat children as independent human beings. The more you spoil them, the more dependent they’ll grow up to be.
