Army has no business doing what General Singh says it had done.

A. S. Dulat, former RAW chief and Kashmir expert

India Today - - COVER STORY -

The entire episode about the charges made against the former army chief by the Government and his retaliation is unfortunate. These things should not be in the public domain. These are highly sensitive issues involving operations and intelligence, especially in Jammu and Kashmir. The revelations by the General will result in a setback to the mainstream political process in the state. It is difficult to know how much truth there is in what he is saying. First, the Army has no business doing what General Singh claims it was. Also, when the government report was leaked, the former army chief should have simply reacted by saying that it is bunkum and demanded a CBI enquiry, something that Union minister Farooq Abdullah did.
