LAUNCHING TO GREATER HEIGHTS
Career Launcher believes that setting realistic goals based on one’s capabilities makes all the difference.
Career Launcher ( CL) was founded in 1994 as a guidance centre to prepare students for the personality assessment stage of business school selections. Today CL operates across a broad spectrum of segments in the education industry including entrance test preparation, K- 12 education, higher education and vocational training.
“For me it was the quality of faculty members that made me decide upon CL. They’ve given me excellent support throughout the preparation process,” says Shashwat Chugh, a student at CL. Indeed the faculty at CL have been known to be the cream of the crop. “Each and every faculty member here goes through a specially designed training program which stresses on different teaching methodologies, conceptual clarity and understanding of the nuances of teaching. Also, CL faculty members are made to appear for

all the major entrance exams every year to ensure that they understand these exams very well and are able to transfer this knowledge to the students,” explains Gautam Puri, co- founder of CL. “Many of our visiting faculty members are senior managers working in a crosssection of industries ,” he adds. “They give us an insight into how real- world organisations function. They’re a really im- portant part of our learning process,” says Chugh.
Apart from conventional classroom lectures, students can also avail of pre- recorded video sessions. “All classroom sessions are preceded by pre- class work, wherein a student is expected to go through the assigned portions of the text book and some e- sessions,” says Puri. The growing demand from students at the institute for online material has encouraged the CL management team to introduce certain programme such as Smart CAT Cracker ( SCC) that are delivered entirely through the online mode. There are over 240 video lessons of 4,800 minutes on SCC which hosts topic wise practice exercises and have been meticulously put together by Puri and his team.
With CAT dates coming closer, Puri believes one of the most common mistakes that students make is to “keep solving more and more questions without taking timed tests regularly. They forget that honing test- taking skills is extremely critical.” Puri also feels some students have the tendency to overestimate their capabilities and target an unrealistically high score in the exam. “As a consequence, they end up putting a huge amount of pressure on themselves and make a mess of the exam. It is important to set realistic and achievable targets based on one’s performance in the mock tests,” he says.
