A walk through some of the best cafés around town

Creative platter

Away from loud and spacious cafés filled with teeny boppers, this quiet café, that is also a part of a home and lifestyle store, is a shining beacon of light for those hunting for peace and a hot cup of Joe. “I picked the dishes in the menu from my travels across the world,” says Mitun Chakrabarti, founder and designer of Maka Maka. The mini art gallery and décor bears witness to her travels through pictures, postcards and photographs. The café hits just the right spot between cosy and cramped. As the home interiors section is right next door, it is a good past- time to check out artsy pictures and people shopping while savouring a bite.

CAFFEINE COUNTER Try the robust and yet soothing ginger tea from their select menu.

MUNCH THIS The menu is eclectic, to say the least. You can find Spanish potatoes, Caprese salad, platters of bruschetta and cheesecake along with local street hits like the homemade nimki.

PEOPLE WATCH This is a treat for an avid shopper with an eye for detail. With their eco- friendly and chichi home products like masks, photo frames, table linen etc., you will see a fair share of arty intelligentsia.

INSIDER TIP If you are watching your diet don’t miss muri Maka Maka.
