Old taste, new vibe

India Today - - SIMPLY KOLKATA - by Malini Banerjee

The thirty- year old patisserie Kookie Jar now has a new sibling just one road away from its Rawdon Street address, which is a good thing, since the tiny confectionary never really had room for dining even though its Alipore outlet did offer meals under their other brand name, Mangio. Kookie Jar Café has similar offerings like Mangio except in a more concise café format. Sandwiches, paninis, even parathas are reinvented as wraps on the menu. Must tries include thin- crust, well- balanced pizzas, and pastas, especially the penne with creamy bacon. But nothing can beat Kookie Jar’s desserts. Be it their warm blueberry crumble pie, or their fail- safe mud pie, everything is bound to be good if not superb. At Kookie Jar Café, 8/ 3, Loudon Street
