Restrict Children’s Internet Use
Teenagers are using smartphones, Facebook, other social networking sites and Internet-based communication facilities rampantly nowadays (“Footloose in Cyberia”, October 14). Many of them misuse this technology while some fall prey to it. Parents are often unaware of the dangers of social networking sites and how putting private lives online can seriously harm a youngsters’s emotional life. The youth are frittering away by chatting online with strangers, uploading images and updating status messages for no intellectual gain. Parents are advised to ascertain the fraud and misuse of social networking sites and Internet and guide their children. Restricted access should be allowed under close supervision for purposeful, especially academic activity.
