W14 hat does it take for a Mum­bai boy with dreams of be­com­ing In­dia’s F1 hope? Jehan Daru­vala should know the an­swer. The first In­dian to take part in the CIK-FIA Kart­ing Aca­demic Tro­phy—breed­ing ground for F1 greats such as Ayr­ton Senna and Lewis Hamil­ton—Daru­vala is al­ready a known face on the kart­ing cir­cuit. New proof of the teenager’s po­ten­tial—now a trainee at the Sa­hara Force In­dia F1 Academy—came at the Bri­tish MSA KF3 Cham­pi­onship, with a bril­liant per­for­mance in the PF In­ter­na­tional Cir­cuit.

K13 ush Maini was five years old when go-kart­ing first beck­oned him. He’s not looked back since. Rac­ing from age seven, he’s taken part in in­ter­na­tional races such as the Asia Max Chal­lenge 2008 in Malaysia and In­done­sia, and the JL Tyre Ro­tax Mojo Max Chal­lenge (2008 and 2009), with sev­eral podium fin­ishes. His lat­est achieve­ment was his third place at the World Se­ries Kart­ing race in Italy’s La Conca In­ter­na­tional Cir­cuit, the first In­dian to win there.
