The stars of the cricketing galaxy descended on Mumbai for the India Today Group Salaam Sachin Conclave, a daylong collection of untold stories and anecdotes celebrating the world’s top batsman two days before his final farewell. Among the faithful were nine former international captains from around the world, which is a testimony to Sachin’s greatness. But it was his famous rival, the inimitable Brian Lara, who predictably stole the thunder. “If I had a son and I caught him watching me on YouTube, I would tell him to watch Sachin instead,” Lara said. He went on to graciously describe Sachin as the “greatest”, perhaps ending the debate once and for all.
