Driven by Design

India Today - - HOME INTERNATIONAL TRENDS -

Sometimes it is the juxtaposition of the old and the new that gives interior design an edge. Architect Corvin Cristian’s idea of clubbing the contemporary with traditional values for Studio Hermes, a club and restaurant, proves that the two can be in perfect harmony. Located in Bucharest’s historical centre and taking its name from an old movie theatre that was formerly located at the same address, the place of entertainment has been designed such that it meets the acoustic needs essential for putting up a variety of shows from cabaret to live bands. The design elements follow a mid-century line and the studio is done in a mix of different materials such as onyx for the bar, brass for lighting and velvet for upholstering sofas. There truly is no end to one’s imagination.
