Amit Ku­mar Dahiya won his first gold at the 2003 Na­tional School Meet. He won gold again at the World Cadet Cham­pi­onship and a year later at the Ju­nior Asian Cham­pi­onship. His finest hour came in Septem­ber 2013 when he won sil­ver at the World Cham­pi­onship in Bu­dapest. Dahiya left home when he was barely 11 to train at wrestling guru Sat­pal’s akhara in Delhi. Soon he was rub­bing shoul­ders with Olympians Yo­gesh­war Dutt and Sushil Ku­mar. He is tipped as Sushil’s po­ten­tial suc­ces­sor. FIRST STRIKE Qual­i­fy­ing for the 2012 Lon­don Olympics.
