Amit Kumar Dahiya won his first gold at the 2003 National School Meet. He won gold again at the World Cadet Championship and a year later at the Junior Asian Championship. His finest hour came in September 2013 when he won silver at the World Championship in Budapest. Dahiya left home when he was barely 11 to train at wrestling guru Satpal’s akhara in Delhi. Soon he was rubbing shoulders with Olympians Yogeshwar Dutt and Sushil Kumar. He is tipped as Sushil’s potential successor. FIRST STRIKE Qualifying for the 2012 London Olympics.
