First-time voters in Haryana’s Sonepat district are being offered the chance to acquire a driving licence along with their voter identity cards. Deputy Commissioner Samir Pal Srow says this is to encourage youngsters to register as voters. Besides this, they will also be eligible for a free meal at earmarked local eateries after casting their vote. It must be working: State Chief Electoral Officer Shrikant Walgad said as many as 80,000 young Haryanvis had registered until March 9, taking advantage of the Election Commission’s ongoing drive.
