How the Modi campaign is spreading his word in Uttar Pradesh
DIGITAL RATH 401 state-of-the-art raths equipped with LED screens, amplifiers and DVD players will drive across 19,000 villages, mostly in western Uttar Pradesh, screening videos of Modi’s rally speeches. They will cover 403 assembly constituencies in the state propagating the ‘Har Har Modi, Ghar Ghar Modi’ chant. MODI ARMY Teams of 10 trained volunteers will visit educational institutes in each district. They will ask students to vote for BJP, if they are eligible, or persuade elders in their families to vote. WAR ROOMAgroup of 200 young BJP workers will handle Modi’s war room in Varanasi, monitoring the campaigns of opposition candidates. About a dozen smaller teams will track rival candidates on the ground. NIGHT OUT Five members from BJP’s booth committees and one from RSS will sleep overnight near each of the 132,000 booths in Uttar Pradesh, where they will talk about Modi’s Gujarat model and the party’s agenda. MEHENDI LAGAO Members of the BJP Mahila Morcha will visit localities carrying cones of mehendi. They will engage with women through a door-to-door campaign and draw a lotus on the palms of those who agree to support BJP.
