Dancer, stripper, courtesan, spy. Did she cause the deaths of 50,000 soldiers in World War I? The Dutch beauty Margaretha Geertruida ‘Margreet’ MacLeod (nee Zelle), better known by the stage name Mata Hari, was executed on October 15, 1917 in France on charges of spying for Germany
