Last week, the Supreme Court de­scribed air pol­lu­tion as a “very se­ri­ous” prob­lem, for which “we need to find so­lu­tions fast”. More peo­ple die in In­dia and China than any­where else be­cause of the air they breathe. Par­tic­u­late mat­ter in the at­mos­phere is car­cino­genic, and fine par­ti­cles (PM2.5) are par­tic­u­larly dan­ger­ous be­cause they pen­e­trate deeper into our lungs.
