After a 10-year break, the 61-year-old Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad, bet­ter known as Chi­ran­jeevi, is back, play­ing the ti­tle role in Khaidi No. 150, his 150th film. “I am making a come­back, prompted by the pres­sure of fans and de­mands of pro­duc­ers,” ex­plains Chi­ran­jeevi, adding, “Amitabh Bachchan and Ra­jinikanth sug­gested pub­licly that 149 films is not the num­ber to stop at.” En­thused by the re­sponse to the film, a re­make of the Tamil Katthi, he has al­ready be­gun work on a sec­ond—a pe­riod piece, in­spired by the ex­ploits of the 19th cen­tury free­dom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, in Ray­alaseema, Andhra Pradesh—to hit the screens by Oc­to­ber.
