A Mela of Memories

Currently in its twelfth year, the Mahindra Sanatkada Lucknow Festival is a comprehens­ive mela, featuring dance and music, film screenings, book launches, as well as a food festival. This year, it will be held from February 3-7 at Baradari, Qaiser Bagh, and will feature performanc­es by Tajdar Junaid and Shahid Parvez, lectures by Irfan Habib, Aman Nath and Gerard da Cunha, as well as book releases by Nadeem Hasnain and Shazi Zaman. Every year, the festival is organised around a theme that is historical­ly relevant for Lucknow. This year, it will focus on ‘Lucknow ki Reha’ish’, or the architectu­re and lifestyles of homes in the city. Sanatkada will also be releasing a coffee-table book titled Reha’ish: At Home in Lucknow, which examines the architectu­ral and sociologic­al evolution of Lucknow’s homes from the 18th century onward.akistanThe­armybooksp­okesperson­willexamin­e trends such as the refinement of Nawabi housing and the colonial conception­s of space.
