Prince and David Bowie died and Don­ald Trump was elected pres­i­dent in 2016. But in the foot­steps of the four horse­men of na­tion­al­ism, chau­vin­ism, racism and in­tol­er­ance lol­loped the happy news that vinyl mu­sic sales had out­stripped dig­i­tal mu­sic glob­ally ‘for the first time in his­tory’. The last vinyl record pressed in In­dia—at the leg­endary Dum Dum plant—was the sound­track of the 1997 film Dil Toh Pa­gal Hai.
