Fanattic Sports Museum, in Kolkata, has finally given India’s sports lovers a place to contemplate the legends of the past. The collection largely consists of items that were collected by sport historian Boria Majumdar over 25 years. Created in association with industrialist Harshavardhan Neotia, the 6,700 square foot hall of heroes is crammed with iconic memorabilia—from the gloves Sachin Tendulkar wore when he scored his 100th century, to the canary yellow jersey P.V. Sindhu wore on her path to a silver medal at the Rio Olympics, to a letter written by Muhammad Ali. As Sachin Tendulkar, Indian cricket’s enduring hero, said at the launch on January 29, “This museum will do its bit to inspire youngsters to take up sports.”
