KASTURBHAI LALBHAI MUSEUM

India Today - - LEISURE -

Sanjay Lalbhai and his wife, Jayshree, spent years developing the gorgeous residence of the late Kasturbhai Lalbhai into a museum complex showcasing the family’s private stash of paintings from the Mughal and Tagore collection, painted postcards from pre-Independent India and other valuable artworks and antiquities spanning more than 1,000 years of history. Along with the family home, which has been renovated by architect Rahul Mehrotra, the complex also includes the Claude Batley house. Built in the 1930s, it will house temporary exhibitions to complement the permanent collection displayed in the former Lalbhai residence.
