What you study In­tro­duc­tion to dif­fer­ent types of ac­ces­sories, ma­te­ri­als and pro­cesses, con­struc­tion prin­ci­ples, sizes and pro­por­tions, de­sign strat­egy, prod­uct mer­chan­dis­ing, con­sumer in­ter­face and tech­nol­ogy in­te­gra­tion.

Ca­reer Prospects: “Fash­ion com­pa­nies need ac­ces­sory de­sign­ers in prod­uct devel­op­ment, buy­ing, and mer­chan­dis­ing roles. Sales, mar­ket­ing and com­mu­ni­ca­tion chan­nels are also hir­ing de­sign­ers. There has also been a rise in the num­ber of en­trepreneurs,” says De­sai.

Skills Re­quired “Cus­tomer un­der­stand­ing, prac­ti­cal­ity of use and con­struc­tion, un­der­stand­ing of the mar­ket and read­ing the sell-through re­port are im­por­tant,” he says.
