According to the organisers of the event, 109 couples tied the knot in a mass ceremony in Bahirkhand, a village some 70 kilometres north of Kolkata. The couples—tribal, Muslim and Hindu—came from all across West Bengal. The event is an annual affair, one intended to assist those who might otherwise be unable to bear the high costs of an Indian wedding.
