In Gu­jarati, Agashiye, lit­er­ally means ‘on the rooftop’ and the restau­rant at the her­itage ho­tel, House of MG pro­vides ex­actly that— an ex­pan­sive rooftop ter­race decked out in the iconic colo­nial grandeur of the ho­tel. It pro­vides a calm, breezy at­mos­phere el­e­vated above the streets of Lal Dar­waja. Here, tra­di­tional Gu­jarati veg­e­tar­ian food is served on a kansa thali, made from an al­loy known for its health ben­e­fits and the menu draws from cuisines of var­i­ous re­gions of Gu­jarat.

They of­ten bring in sea­sonal del­i­ca­cies and ev­ery meal is planned keep­ing in mind the nu­tri­tional value. The ex­pe­ri­ence be­gins in the wait­ing area with a re­fresh­ing shar­bat and wel­come starters. Once on the main ter­race, the guests can choose be­tween the reg­u­lar thali priced at Rs 935 or the deluxe op­tion at Rs 1,265 which is gen­er­ously re­filled. Gu­jarati clas­sics such as ra­sawala bateka and mag ni dal are served with an as­sort­ment of minia­ture breads like masala paratha and bhakhri. The meal is rounded off with a warm­ing khichdhi and kadhi.
