India Today - - UPFRONT -

Reporters Sans Frontieres (RSF), the international press watchdog’s annual Press Freedom Index puts India’s rating at “bad” rather than just “problematic”. Ranked in the latest list behind the likes of Burma, the Philippines, Zimbabwe and the UAE, India is criticised for an atmosphere that “encourages self-censorship”. And “Hindu nationalists” are explicitly blamed for “trying to purge all manifestations of ‘anti-national’ thought from the national debate”.
