Craft beer first hit Gu­ru­gram and Pune around 2008. A year later, the first brew­pub opened its doors in Bengaluru. To­day, the gar­den city boasts nearly 30 mi­cro­brew­eries with 20 more slated to open over the next two years.

What makes craft beer stand out? With­out get­ting into beer geek­ery, the com­bi­na­tion of small hand-crafted batches, high-qual­ity in­gre­di­ents and in­no­va­tive brew­ing tech­niques re­sult in beers that are su­pe­rior in taste and qual­ity to their mass-pro­duced cousins. Even with 30 brew­eries, we’re still new to the art, so only a hand­ful of out­lets stand out.
