Remember when sleeping on rooftops and counting the stars felt like the best thing to end a warm day? A trip to Astroport Sariska, the first astronomy-based resort in India, offers just that. Situated in the lap of the Aravallis, the resort is an ecofriendly establishment with organic farms and modern equipment. Sariska National Park, just a stretch away, is home to tigers, leopards, four-horned antelope and other beautiful flora and fauna. Other activities include an astronomy camp, a solar walk, ayurveda sessions, treks, cycle tours, jungle safaris at Sariska, historical sightseeing in Alwar and water sports at Siliserh Lake during the day. Accommodations at the resort are around Rs 13,000 a night for galaxia tents and Rs 22,000 for Nebulae. The best time to visit Astroport is from September to May before the clouds take over the sky and the national park closes for monsoon. —Vishakha Dugar
