Jhark­hand in­tro­duced a sur­ren­der pol­icy in 2001 to en­cour­age the “mis­led Maoist youth” to come back and join the main­stream. The re­sults were not en­cour­ag­ing, so the pol­icy was up­dated in 2008 to in­clude re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion, be­sides rais­ing the mon­e­tary com­pen­sa­tion for them. The pol­icy was fur­ther up­dated in 2015 to pro­vide cat­e­gory-wise com­pen­sa­tion
