Hurt Sentiments II

-

Another dim American TV journalist, Megyn Kelly, was on the receiving end of the collective howl of indignation because she did not know that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a social media superstar. He was savvy enough to tell her he’d seen a picture she’d posted to which she responded: “Are you on Twitter?” From the outrage, you’d never have guessed that big countries, India included, can be insular, or that celebrities, Indians included, can be vacuous and self-obsessed. Isn’t it more important to ask why world leaders will so readily take part in a celebrity charade?
