Pet Benefit

-

Apopular practice the world over, pet therapy is still finding its feet in India. Fur Ball Story, a Gurgaon-based startup, aims to open people’s minds and hearts to the benefits of animal-assisted interactions by bringing playful balls of fur to your doorstep. “Our operations are based entirely on the study conducted by Harvard Medical School titled ‘Get Healthy, Get a Dog’. It focuses on how spending time with a dog improves the mental and physical well-being of a human,” says Srishti Sharma, a law student and one of the founders. Founded by Animesh Katiyar, 24, Arushi Dixit, 24, Kunal Daral, 24, and Srishti Sharma, 21, Fur Ball Story brings the furry therapists to your home or office, and a typical session involves petting the dogs, feeding them, walking and/ or playing with them. “Spending quality time with a non-judgemental pet is less daunting than traditional therapy,” explains Srishti. The “therapists” are well-trained and are equipped to deal with strangers. The prices vary between Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,500 for residential sessions, depending on the distance and number of people, and Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000 for corporate sessions.
