Union home minister Rajnath Singh has clearly decided to stake his claim to being the next Iron Man, a moniker once used for Sardar Patel. Which explains the location he chose for the annual shastra puja this Vijayadashami—a high altitude border outpost on the IndiaChina border. In a visit heavily loaded with symbolismthe first one by an Indian minister to the line of actual control after the Doklam standoff—Singh toured ITBP posts at Rimkhim and Lafthal in Uttarakhand located at over 12,000 feet. He is only the second home minister to visit the LAC after L.K. Advani—another alleged Iron Man—in 1998. The shastra puja record, however, stands.
