“It’s my opinion that there must be reservation in the private sector too. Let there be a national debate about it and Parliament too needs to discuss (the issue)”
NITISH KUMAR stirred a hornet’s nest with his suggestion that the private sector too should have reservation quotas for jobs. The Bihar government said laws on reservations would apply even to services outsourced by the government, inviting criticism not just from his opponents but also his allies in the BJP. Kumar clarified that the rule applied in cases where the government was paying wages, rather than government contracts bid for and won by private contractors. But he stressed his support for improving the access of backward castes to private sector jobs.
