HE previously showed interest in performing at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding. And singer Ed Sheeran might have landed the dream gig as the 26 year-old singer has reportedly been asked to sing at the highly anticipated royal nuptials scheduled in May.

The Perfect hitmaker has already been approached by Prince Harry to help the couple celebrate their big day.

A source said: “Prince Harry has personally requested Ed perform at his wedding.”

Royal wedding fever has been revving up since the engagement announcement was made in November, with Ed being hotly tipped to perform since the exciting news broke.

While it’s not known whether he’s agreed to the gig, the idea of playing at the royal event has crossed Ed’s mind before.

After receiving his MBE from Prince Charles in December, Ed was quizzed about whether he would say yes to if he was asked to perform on the big day.

When asked if he’d like to sing for Charles’ son and the former Suits actress at their ceremony at Windsor Chapel next May, he said: “Yeah, why not!”

It was not the first time Ed has been singled out as a potential musical act — telling KIIS FM in December that would play “If I was free”.

“I get asked this all the time like I know the Royal family. I’ve met

Harry once — that was in 2011 at his grans’ Jubilee, and it was like, “Hey. Hey” ... I barely know him!’ he continued.

In December, Ed appeared to make some good headway getting into the newly-engaged royal’s good books — after helping Harry raise money for charity. The Grammy-winning artist recently signed Jamie Lawson to his label Gingerbread Man Records, who released a charity single for Walking With The Wounded — an organisation that Prince Harry is patron of.

His connections to the Royal Family don’t stop there as he reportedly

had his face sliced by Princess Beatrice at a party last November as she mockknighted James Blunt with a sword.

Ed is isn’t the only British artist to potentially through his hat into the ring, with Sam Smith, 25, also showing interest in helping the Prince and his actress beauty celebrate their big day.

But on Wednesday, he said that he won’t be lending his vocal prowess to the upcoming royal nuptials, which happens to be on the same day as his birthday.

In a recent TV interview, Sam Smith said: “That would be amazing, but no, that’s definitely not happening.”
