CSK to play Mum­bai in IPL 2018 opener

MS DHONILED Chen­nai Su­per Kings will take on hold­ers Mum­bai In­di­ans to kick-start the In­dian Pre­mier League, weeks af­ter con­sid­er­ing broad­caster’s re­quest for a change in sched­ule. The first match on April 7 will be held at the Wankhede Sta­dium in Mum­bai, which will also see the re­turn of two-time win­ners CSK. The venues for elim­i­na­tor and qual­i­fier 2 have not been con­firmed yet while the qual­i­fier 1 and the fi­nal will be played in Mum­bai.

ARSE­NAL striker Alexan­dre La­cazette will be out of ac­tion for up to six weeks af­ter un­der­go­ing an op­er­a­tion on his left knee, the club said on Wed­nes­day. The 26-year-old had an arthroscopy in Lon­don and the pro­ce­dure was de­scribed as a suc­cess by the Gun­ners. “The mi­nor pro­ce­dure was a suc­cess and he will now un­dergo a pe­riod of re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion,” said a state­ment on the club’s web­site. It is en­vis­aged that he will re­turn to the squad within four to six weeks. La­cazette will miss the first leg of Europa League tie against Oster­sunds in Swe­den on Thurs­day. He will also miss the sec­ond leg a week later, as well as the League Cup fi­nal.
