Groom-ed Vyas to hit big screen

AUDIENCES will see actor Sumeet Vyas twice on the big screen in a matter of two weeks. On May 18, he stars in his friend and filmmaker Akarsh Khurana’s directorial debut High Jack. Then on June 1 he is the good guy who looks forward to marriage with his reluctant girlfriend (Kareena Kapoor Khan) in Veere Di Wedding(VDW).

Both may be comedies but they couldn’t be different.

The former is an independent film in which Vyas, best known for The Viral Fever’s popular web series Permanent Roommates and Tripling.

With VDW Vyas had no idea what he was auditioning for.. Once selected he discovered that he was signing his biggest commercial project to-date. It helped that Shashanka Ghosh was directing the film. “It really drew me in because I have been a huge fan of his work”, said Vyas mentioning Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part 2. But the actor who wowed in Rakhee Sandaliya’s underrated marital drama Ribbon (2017) isn’t riding all his hope on VDW.

“It is definitely a very important project done on a big scale by some credible people and I have a decent part in it and I am glad I am part of it, but beyond that I don’t want to say this is going to change my life,” said Vyas.

Though he is happy with how it has turned out. “I dubbed recently for the film so I got an idea of how much of my work is left,” he added. “Most of it was there which surprised me and it proved that they are putting the story above everything else,” said Vyas.

VDW is Vyas’s biggest commercial project yet.
