In­dia beat Malaysia 3-2 in league stage

DEFENDING cham­pi­ons In­dia on Thurs­day breezed into the sum­mit clash of the women’s Asian Cham­pi­ons Tro­phy af­ter edg­ing past Malaysia 3-2, their third con­sec­u­tive vic­tory. In­dia, who beat Ja­pan 4-1 and China 3-1 in their pre­vi­ous matches, qual­i­fied for the fi­nal with a match in hand in their pool. They are sit­ting atop the ta­ble with nine points and will next take on hosts Korea in their fi­nal pool match on Satur­day be­fore Sun­day’s fi­nal. Gur­jit Kaur, Van­dana Katariya (in pic) & Lal­rem­si­ami sounded the board for In­dia.

TOP in­ter­na­tional stars like Aus­tralians Alyssa Healy and Meg Lan­ning will be seen in ac­tion in the up­com­ing one-off Women’s T20 Chal­lenge match to be played on May 22 ahead of the IPL Qual­i­fier 1 in Mum­bai. The con­test will see In­dia Women’s T20 vice-cap­tain Sm­riti Mandhana-led IPL Trail­blaz­ers com­pete against IPL Su­per­novas, to be cap­tained by Harmanpreet Kaur. The one-of-it­skind match will fea­ture 26 play­ers in­clud­ing 10 in­ter­na­tional stars from Aus­tralia, Eng­land and New Zealand.
