A Night To Remember
The first ever Stardust Musical Extravaganza held in London, was a rocking affair that had the audience screaming for more...
It was indeed a night like no other at the majestic Eventim Apollo Theatre, when London awakened to the sound of Bollywood music. Magna Publishing hosted the first ever Stardust Musical Extravaganza on November 22, 2014 and brought together two musical legends—Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik under one roof. The show was anchored by the stellar Sarita Sabharwal, a popular radio host in the UK, who kick- started the countdown at fever-pitch. The ambience was staggering and the audience was eager to see their favourite singers take the centre stage.
As Kumar Sanu, dressed at his dapper best, made a dramatic entry, the auditorium reverberated with the sound of thunderous applause. The magnificent singer belted out evergreen numbers from hit films like Sajjan, Aashiqui and many more... Mesmerised by his melodious voice, the audience called for encores. In fact, his star- struck fans were constantly requesting for their favourite numbers, and he did just that—he crooned magical numbers and had the audience asking for more...much more!
The gorgeous Alka Yagnik descended on stage with the audience going berserk in excitement. Welcomed by roaring applause, she sang her many superhit numbers, including Bole Chudiyan and Kehdo Na, You Are My Soniya, and had the audience grooving to her tunes.
The night wouldn’t have been complete without a duet session between the two legends. Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik came together to sing some super hit Hindi tracks that had the audience transported to the golden era of Bollywood music.
As the magical evening unfolded its many exciting offerings and cast a spell on the audience, there was also an exciting cameo from Richard Poyner of the Palm Beach Casino, who sang a popular English song and strummed melodiously on his guitar.
And then there was an exciting flurry of awards that Stardust initiated to felicitate deserving people. The sensational Poonam Kay won the ‘Outstanding Singer’ award. She also released her forthcoming album Nach le, while Lord Karan Billimoria, owner of Cobra Beer, was the recipient of the well- deserved ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Asian Community’ award.
Indeed, it was a night London will never forget!
