Alternative checkpoint for Nepal trade

Maritime Gateway - - South Asia News -

Nepal and India have agreed to use the B him na ga rb han tab ari small customs checkpoint as an alternative to the Biratnagar-jogbani customs to keep trade movement smooth. Recent floods have damaged railway tracks and bridges on the Indian side halting the trade activities. Traders have started rerouting the stranded cargo containers from Bhimnagar to Bhantabari and more than 1,000 trucks have arrived through the point. Rerouting has increased transport costs as trucks have to cover an additional 100km distance.
