FIRST RIVERI NTER LINKING PROJECT LAUNCHED IN RAJASTHAN
Rajasthan has started work on its first river-interlinking project. The aim of the project is to ensure the flow of excess rainwater in Chambal and Brahmani rivers to Bisalpur Dam. This water will then be used to meet drinking water and irrigation requirements of 19 towns and around 3,000 villages in Jaipur, Ajmer, Tonk and Nagaur districts. A detailed feasibility report of the project has been prepared at a cost of `4.73 crore. The report has been sent to the public health engineering department for assessment of its viability— both technical and financial.
