VEDANTA GETS TWO BAUXITE MINES IN ODISHA

Marwar - - All Things [ Great And Small ] -

According to media reports, the Government of Odisha has given the green signal to Londonbased Vedanta Resources, a globally diversified natural resources company, to mine bauxite from two reserves with 15 mtpa of bauxite in Odisha. The company has invested heavily in its aluminium operations in Odisha, but has been facing shortage of raw material because of local villagers protesting against the company’s mining operations in Rayagada and Kalahandi districts. After bagging these two mines, 75 per cent of the company’s total requirement of 20 mtpa of bauxite is likely to be taken care of, helping it to nearly double its current capacity of 1.75 mtpa of aluminium production to 3 mtpa.
